Community Benefit Fund

The Jack's Lane Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund has been established to provide financial support to community based projects which contribute to the wellbeing of the local area and have particular educational, environmental or social emphasis.

The annual £30,000 (index-linked) fund is managed by Norfolk Community Foundation (as the Fund Administrator), but decisions about where the money is spent are made by a Fund Panel of local people.

Aimed at small community led organisations, the Fund is for projects which are considered to benefit the residents of the following parishes (comprising an area of benefit spanning 5km from each of the turbine locations): North Creake, South Creake, Stanhoe, Syderstone, Bagthorpe with Barmer, Barwick, Bircham, Burnham Market, Docking, East Rudham and Tattersett.

Preference will be given to projects that are located within the 5km area of benefit, however projects from further afield can be considered and a grant awarded provided the project is deemed to be of benefit to those living and working within 5km the Jack’s Lane Wind Farm turbines.

Local Electricity Discount Scheme

The Local Electricity Discount Scheme (LEDS) was developed by RES as a direct form of benefit for communities hosting its wind farms.

This pioneering initiative delivers an easily understandable and equitable way of offering the local community a financial ‘share’ in Jack's Lane Wind Farm, in the form of an annual discount off electricity bills.

LEDS at Jack's Lane Wind Farm is offering properties within 2,400 metres of each of the six turbines an annual discount of £100 (index-linked) off their electricity bill throughout the operational life of the wind farm.

The scheme is open to all residential, business and community buildings (including schools, places of worship and village halls) within the eligible area that have an electricity meter.

Eligible properties have been contacted directly by RES with information on how to apply. RES made the first LEDS payment at Jack's Lane Wind Farm in April 2015.

Together with the Community Benefit Fund, LEDS brings the total community benefits package at Jack's Lane Wind Farm to £75,000 per year, index linked.

Further information on LEDS can be found here.
